What Is a Good TikTok Creator Engagement Rate?
There is no single engagement rate that counts as good. What matters is the content behind the number and the category it sits in.

There is no single engagement rate that counts as good. It changes by category, by account size, and by what the audience is there for. A number that looks strong on an entertainment account can mean something else on a selling account. For picking a creator, the rate matters less than the pattern behind it.
Why the number alone says little
Engagement rate is likes, comments, and shares divided by reach. It measures attention, not buying. A comedy account can carry a high engagement rate and sell nothing, because the audience came to be entertained.
So a creator with a 9% engagement rate and no product content is a worse bet than one at 4% who sells in most posts. The percentage is not the signal. The content behind it is.
What to read instead
Two things tell you more than the rate itself.
-
The mix of content. How much of what a creator posts features products or affiliate links. A selling account and an entertainment account can post the same engagement rate and convert nothing alike.
-
The shape of the audience. Whether the people engaging are there to buy the kind of thing you sell, or to watch.
What a useful benchmark looks like
The only benchmark that means anything is your own category. A strong engagement rate for a beauty creator is not the same as for one selling tools, and neither number is fixed. Compare a candidate to the creators already selling in your category, not to a universal figure quoted in a blog post.
Engagement rate is one signal. The full vetting method puts it beside the others.
